MessengerSkinner 1.0.0.8 is a program to change the appearance of your MSN or Windows Live Messenger.
It´s not a Messenger itself, it´s just a separate program to change the colors, background, etc. of your already installed Messenger.
You can install it using 7 different languages. You must close your Messenger in order to install this program.
Upon installation, the browser is redirected to http://www.messengerskinner.com/congrat/congratulation.php?lg=EN&grpid=61&installopt1=1&res=1, where you´re forced to download Instant-Access.exe from http://es6-scripts.ncctateway.com. According to Symantec, this is a dangerous dialer trojan, that disconnects you from the Internet and then dials a phone number to access Emoticon Planet or porn sites, dialing a high cost telephone number. MessengerSkinner 1.0.0.8 then sits on your WLM Windows, and you can use it when you´re in a conversation, choosing some of the emoticons that will be downloaded when you use it.
The program itself doesn´t seem to be harmful, but the fact that the installer, downloaded from the publisher´s site, tries to make you victim of a fraud, seems enough reason for not using it, nor recommending it.
